“We have received a request from the
Armenian side regarding allowing transit from Armenia to Russia,” Azerbaijani
media reported, as President Ilham Aliyev stated at a panel session held in
Davos within the framework of the World Economic Forum.
“We have, in fact, unilaterally opened the
corridors for Armenia. Yes, currently transportation is carried out through
Georgia. However, one day transit will take place directly from Armenia through
Azerbaijan, and this day is not far off,” the Azerbaijani President noted.
According to Aliyev, the priority for
Azerbaijan is the region and its immediate neighbors.
"I am glad that over the years of
independence we have managed to establish very close working relations with all
our neighbors, of course, except for Armenia - for well-known reasons. After
the establishment of de facto peace, we also began economic cooperation and
export operations," Ilham Aliyev noted.
