The Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National
Assembly, Hakob Arshakyan, stated that there have been huge changes in
relations between Armenia and India and there is a lot of cooperation activity
in various areas: defense, military industry, technology sector, logistics,
education, tourism.
According to Armenpress, Hakob Arshakyan
spoke about this at the APRI-2025 conference entitled “Finding Stability in an
Unstable World”.
“We can become a gateway that provides
India with Europe through Iran, Georgia and the Black Sea. In this context, I
would like to mention the “Crossroads of Peace” program, which our Indian
partners are very interested in. This can be a good platform, however, there
are many limitations due to various conflicts in the world. "If the
'Crossroads of Peace' were to work now, billions of dollars would flow through
Armenia's roads and railways, which would also bring prosperity and stability
to our region," the vice-speaker of the Armenian National Assembly said.
As for Armenian-Indian relations, Arshakyan
added that Indian partners are interested in Armenia, in the opportunities for
education in our country.
"We already have 3,000 students from
India studying here, although this number could be higher. And here, developing
and expanding capabilities is important when we are talking about cooperation
with such a large country. If we talk about potential, then, as you know, an
academic city is being built here, which can develop such capabilities,"
Arshakyan noted.
According to him, the Armenian side is also
discussing issues related to technical, economic and logistical partnership
with its Indian partners. The Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the
Republic of Armenia expressed hope that, in the context of the above, efforts
to create such a connection between Yerevan and New Delhi will be successful.
