2025-12-29

ASCO (“Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping”) has tripled cargo transportation in the Middle Corridor this year. The data is published by Report.

In particular, from January to November of this year, the volume of containers transported by ASCO ships amounted to 18,542 TEU, while in the same period of 2024 it was 6,186 TEU. This is an almost threefold increase in container transportation in one year.

During the first 11 months of the year, ASCO ships transported 716,460 tons of dry cargo in the Caspian Sea, which is approximately 51% more than the 443,843 tons recorded in the same period of 2024.

According to ASCO, in order to ensure smooth cargo transportation and increase the competitiveness of the corridor, preferential tariffs for wagon transportation were in effect throughout the year. During the peak cargo turnover period, three more ships were added to the Aktau-Alyati route for five months.

Currently, the total wagon capacity of ASCO ferries and Ro-Pax vessels in the middle corridor is 584 units, and the dry cargo capacity is 140,000 tons.
