China Railways joins Georgia-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan joint venture

China Railway Container Transport’s subsidiary “China Railway Container Transportation” will join the Middle Corridor Multimodal joint venture created by the railway operators of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The shareholders of the joint venture agreed on this at an extraordinary general meeting.

The general meeting of shareholders of Middle Corridor Multimodal was held in Baku. The meeting discussed the development of the Middle Corridor, digitalization of processes, implementation of a roadmap for eliminating bottlenecks and other relevant issues of cooperation.

Based on the agreement reached, joint monitoring of the movement time of container trains on the Middle Corridor route will also be introduced. This will ensure schedule stability, quickly resolve emerging logistical problems, and improve the efficiency of the route.

For reference: Middle Corridor Multimodal is a joint venture created by the railway companies of Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, the goal of which is to develop transit transportation along the Middle Corridor and increase its efficiency. The enterprise is the single operator of the route.
