Czech railway company Leo Express, a
subsidiary of Spanish national operator Renfe, plans to launch direct trains
from the German city of Frankfurt to the Polish city of Przemysl, located on
the Ukrainian border, in 2026.
The train will start from Przemysl, which
has become the main gateway to the world for many Ukrainians since Russia began
a full-scale war in Ukraine. The route will also pass through the Polish cities
of Rzeszow, Tarnów, Krakow, Katowice and Tychy, before entering the Czech
Republic.
In Germany, the train will stop in Bad
Schandau, Dresden, Leipzig, Weimar, Erfurt, Fulda, Hanau, Offenbach, Frankfurt
am Main and its airport.
The total distance of the route exceeds
1,300 kilometers.
The first flight is expected to be carried
out on June 25, 2026. Ticket prices between the stations of Przemyśl and
Frankfurt will start from 10 euros. Initially, tickets will be sold without
advance reservations, but Leo Express plans to introduce a full seat
reservation system and business class from January.
Leo Express will serve the route with its existing fleet of trains, which offer passengers Wi-Fi, power, air conditioning and catering services.
