Georgia's ruling party, Georgian Dream, is
replacing Europe with Russia, China, and Iran. The number of Iranian companies
in the country has increased unprecedentedly. Transparency International
publishes data on this.
From 2013 to 2024, the "Dream"
has deepened not only economic relations with the theocratic republic, but also
political ones.
Over the past 12 years, Georgia's economic
relations with Iran have increased significantly:
In 2000-2012, 2,370 companies were
registered in Georgia by Iranian citizens, and in 2013-2024, 4 times more -
9,300 companies.
In 2012, 82,885 visitors arrived from Iran,
and in 2024, 2 times more - 145,670 visitors.
In 2001-2012, direct investment from Iran
amounted to $8 million, and in 2013-2024, it increased 5 times - $40 million.
In 2012, Georgia's trade turnover with Iran was $119 million (exports of $19 million, imports of $101 million), and in 2024 it was 2.7 times more - $322 million (exports of $37 million, imports of $285 million).
