The interest is already very high, we did
not expect such a large interest at the beginning,” said Nino Nemsadze,
Director of Tbilisi Dry Port, summarizing the data for one month since the port
was launched.
As a reminder, Tbilisi Dry Port began
shipping on April 22, 2025. The container terminal of the first phase of the
port is arranged on 93 thousand square meters. In addition to the container
infrastructure, there is a warehouse on site. It is worth noting that the
direct railway connection with the ports allows containers to be transported
not by land, but by rail.
“The port has been open for a month, the
interest is already very high, we did not expect such a large interest at the
beginning. We are slowly coping with the demand and hope that the cargo
turnover will increase even more in the future. We have received various types
of cargo with containers, however, at this stage I cannot say the exact
categories of cargo, the processing process is underway,” - notes Nino
Nemsadze.
For information, Tbilisi Dry Port is located between the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea, in the middle of the middle corridor and will connect the Black Sea ports of Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania. In August 2024, it became known that AD Ports Group became the owner of a 60% stake in Tbilisi Dry Port. At that time, AD Ports Group reported that the project would be implemented in three phases. After the completion of the processes, the facility’s warehouse will be located on 100,000 sq. m and will handle 286 thousand TEU of container cargo.
