
As a result of the elections held at the
General Assembly in Istanbul on January 17, 2026, Osman Çalişkan was re-elected
for a third term as the Chairman of the DEIK Turkey-Georgia Business Council,
thus renewing his mandate. The Business Council, which aims to develop economic
and trade relations between Turkey and Georgia, aims to strengthen and maintain
the established cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries in
the new term. In his post-election speech, Osman Calişkan emphasized the friendly
relations between Turkey and Georgia, stating: “Turkey and Georgia are two
friendly countries with deep-rooted ties. Trade and economic relations have
been developing steadily in recent years, and Turkish and foreign investments
in Georgia have increased. This cooperation will continue in the coming
period…”
About DEIK:
Established in 1985, DEIK is an umbrella
organization responsible for the development and coordination of foreign
economic relations of the Turkish private sector. The institution supports the
domestic and international activities of the Turkish business community in many
areas, including foreign trade, international investments, services, contracts
and logistics. Through its business councils operating in 152 countries, DEIK
brings together the Turkish private sector with its international counterparts;
it works in close cooperation with public institutions, diplomatic missions and
international organizations. The aim of this structure is to increase Turkish
exports, assess new investment and partnership opportunities, and establish

to increase trade between the two countries, encourage bilateral investments,

Osman Calişkan, who was re-elected as Chairman, is also the President of the Georgian International Investors Association.
