Moldova: The European Union supports the rehabilitation of the North-South railway corridor

The European Union is investing 32 million euros in the form of a grant in the revitalization of the Moldovan section of the "North-South" rail freight corridor. On November 8, "Moldovan Railways" signed an agreement with the winning companies in the tender - the Greek company Obermeyer Hellas and the German company DB Engineering & Consulting.

A total of 375 km long railway line will be restored. At the same time, it is envisaged to facilitate the integration of the railway network of Moldova into the European transport network. The project is implemented within the framework of the European Union initiative "Solidarity Lanes" (Solidarity Lanes), which was launched in 2022 to facilitate Ukraine's foreign economic relations.
