
ITF Summit 2025:TRACECA for Resilient Transport
On May 21, the annual ITF Summit opened in Leipzig. TRACECA joined key discussions on future transport resilience.
TRACECA Secretary General Mr. Asset Assavbayev spoke at the Ministerial Roundtable, focusing on maritime transport challenges in the Black & Caspian regions:
- port infrastructure
- digital solutions
- harmonized corridor actions
The ADB/CAREC session focused on transforming transport corridors into economic corridors via:
- logistics
- digitalization
- tourism & trade support
TRACECA backed the idea of a new transport research center at the CAREC Institute.

TRACECA held the Panel Session “Digitalisation of Railway Transport” within the framework of TransLogistica 2025
On June 2–4, 2025, the Caspian International Transport, Transit and Logistics Exhibition was held in Baku as part of Baku Energy Week.
The event brought together experts from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, India, China and more to discuss the future of transport & logistics.
Key topics included:
- transport sustainability
- railway digitalization
- multimodal transport
- AI in logistics
On June 3, a closed Working Group session on the e-CIM/SMGS consignment note pilot project was held with representatives of railway operators and international organisations.
As part of the panel session on digitalisation, the Mr. Asset Assavbayev, Secretary General, emphasized:
“Digitalisation is the key to seamless logistics and effective transport cooperation.”
TRACECA continues to promote digital technologies and strengthen cooperation among the countries of the region.

TRACECA at the 13th ECO Transport Ministers’ Meeting
On 2 June 2025, the Permanent Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA took part in the 13th Meeting of the ECO Transport Ministers in Tehran, Iran.
The meeting brought together ministers, deputy ministers and representatives of international organizations.
□ Key topics included development of multimodal corridors, transport digitalization, trade facilitation and sustainable logistics.
□ Representative of TRACECA highlighted the importance of coordinated actions on infrastructure investment, harmonized policies, and private sector involvement.
The adopted Tehran Declaration reaffirmed ECO countries’ commitment to building an efficient and interconnected transport system.
TRACECA continues to actively support efforts to enhance regional connectivity and cooperation.

New Opportunities at the Port of Poti!
On June 9, 2025, the multimodal container terminal of JSC Poti TransTerminal was officially opened
Area: 9+ hectares
Up to 120 railcars processed simultaneously
Capacity: 80,000+ containers per year
Investment: $31.5M
Backed by investors from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia
The terminal is a strategic hub of the TRACECA Corridor, enhancing regional transit and export-import potential.
At the ceremony, TRACECA Secretary General Asset Assavbayev delivered a welcome speech, highlighting Poti’s crucial role along Europe the Caucasus–Asia route.

TRACECA at the UN ESCAP Workshop on Dry Ports and Multimodal Transport
On 10–11 June 2025, a hybrid-format ESCAP Workshop took place in Almaty, focused on developing online tools and integrating dry ports into multimodal chains.
Participants from Central Asian countries and global organizations, including TRACECA, discussed:
- development of dry ports
- digitalization and data exchange
- legal and policy tools for multimodal connectivity
TRACECA highlighted its key initiatives on multimodal transport, including agreements, reviews, pilot projects, and digital solutions to enhance transport efficiency.
