The total cost of all phases of the project reaches 700 million dollars. The plant's construction permit was issued in August of this year, and the construction of its reservoirs has already begun.
Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will build a trans-Afghan corridor. Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said that this route will pass through the territory of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, then Afghanistan, including Pakistan, with access to the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. In the period of January - August 2024, the amount of cargo transported in the mode of international transportation amounted to 18.7 million tons, which is 3.7% more than in the same period of 2023. In the mentioned period, the number of containers (6,964 TEU) transported in the Middle Corridor from China or to China, via Georgia, is 728.1% higher than in the same period of 2023.
Azerbaijan wants to create a green corridor along the Middle Corridor route. This was announced by Taleh Ziyadov, the general director of Baku International Sea Trade Port. The greening process includes all modes of transport, including containers, ports, ships, railways - in Azerbaijan and Georgia. According to him, Kazakhstan is seriously considering the use of hydrogen as a green fuel and that in 5-10 years hydrogen will become more available for general use. According to Ziyadov, in the future, everyone will prefer to use the green corridor, due to its environmentally friendly nature.
