Poland leads the EU road transport market

2026-05-17

The Polish foreign ministry, citing data from the EU’s statistics agency Eurostat, said in a social media post on Saturday that Polish companies account for 19.7% of the EU road transport market – a larger share than any of the bloc’s other member states.

It said that Polish carriers have surpassed Germany and Spain, which make up 15% and 14.5% of the EU’s market share, respectively.

The ministry added that the value of service exports from Poland to the rest of the EU reached €68.3 billion last year, with 62% of all such Polish exports going to the EU market.

“The transport sector has long shown how effectively Polish companies leverage the opportunities of the European single market,” the ministry said on social media.

Recent forecasts by the European Commission and other institutions indicate that Poland is set to be one of the fastest-growing major economies in the EU, supported by a resilient labor market and strong investment.
