Representation of Armenia in the Work of the Asia-Pacific Commission

On April 21, within the framework of the 81st session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Robert Abisoghomonian participated and delivered a speech in the general debate entitled “Current and Emerging Policy Issues for Inclusive and Sustainable Development in the Asia-Pacific Region”.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Robert Abisoghomonian noted that the meeting is a good opportunity to exchange views on the progress made towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), current challenges and future steps.

The Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the established cooperation between Armenia and UNESCAP in the areas of promoting a green economy, environmental protection, human capital development, and connectivity.

He attached particular importance to the holding of the 2026 COP17 Biodiversity Conference in Yerevan as an important platform for cooperation on biodiversity and climate change. It was emphasized that Armenia, as the host country of the conference, has adopted an inclusive approach to ensure the involvement of civil society, international organizations, and all other stakeholders.

Regarding the peace agenda adopted by Armenia, the Deputy Foreign Minister presented the Armenian Government’s concept “Crossroads of Peace” to the participants and highlighted its potential as an important guarantee for ensuring economic connectivity and establishing peace both in the South Caucasus and beyond.
