The Silk Road is a more powerful geopolitical order than the Zangezur Corridor

“I wouldn’t worry too much about the Zangezur Corridor. With its development, the Silk Road will not lose its purpose and function”, says Teimuraz Zakradze, director of the Institute for Harmonious Globalization and Governance.

“All of this is geopolitical speculation today, so it’s not worth being too pessimistic about it. The Silk Road is a more powerful and serious geopolitical order than the Zangezur Corridor... I wouldn’t worry too much about the Zangezur Corridor”, says Teimuraz Zakradze.

The director of the Institute of Harmonious Globalization and Governance explains that the shortest route connecting Asia and Europe runs from Tbilisi through Sukhumi, Crimea and Kiev. Teimuraz Zakradze says that the restoration of this corridor for the transportation of goods does not help Russia, because it puts its territorial integrity at risk. According to him, Moscow is trying to create problems for the restoration of the Silk Road by seizing these territories.

"The shortest route from Asia to Europe runs through Sukhumi and Crimea. Moscow has seized these very places. Which hinders the Silk Road. The shortest route runs through Tbilisi, Sukhumi, Crimea, Kiev. Russia has occupied these places. That is why it is at war in Ukraine. That is why it wants to cut off some parts of Ukraine. That is why it wants to violate the integrity of Ukraine, violate the integrity of Georgia. That is why Moscow is insisting that the restoration of the Silk Road is not possible "Let it be, but it will inevitably happen. This is a difficult process. There is a lot of resistance. The Silk Road means the disintegration of the Russian Federation into simple multipliers. In the new order, Moscow will no longer be a geopolitical player", says Teimuraz Zakradze.

The director of the Institute for Harmonious Globalization and Governance believes that the Trump administration is currently pursuing a policy that protects Russia's interests. The reason is that the US president does not want to establish a multipolar world agenda.

"To a certain extent, Moscow has support. Trump's such a scheming policy that he is pursuing towards Moscow is absolutely disgusting. Moreover, the mood of the Americans is also in favor of the Ukrainians. He is forced to take this into account, but at the same time he really does not want the Moscow empire to fall. Maintaining it, maintaining it in any form, is a policy beneficial to Moscow, but this does not help and Trump cannot help. Because Europe is united and is defending Europe and building a new order with a united effort. This is Europe's business. America cannot interfere in this." - Teimuraz Zakradze states.
