In order to increase the cargo turnover and the throughput
of the middle corridor on the Caspian Sea, the dry cargo ship Gadamly, recently
built at the Turkmen Shipyard and intended for Turkmenistan, was put into
operation from Turkmenbashi to Alyati. The ship has a carrying capacity of
6,100 tons, is combined and is designed to carry 240 TEU containers.
In early May, Baku Shipyard BSY and KTZ Express Shipping, a
subsidiary of Kazakhstan Railways, signed an agreement on the construction of
two dry cargo ships for Kazakhstan at the Baku Shipyard, each with a capacity
of 537 TEU containers.
It is noteworthy that Kazakhstan is adding container ships
to the Caspian Sea every year. Currently, the National Shipping Company of
Kazakhstan: Kazmortransflot operates three container and one combined (dry
cargo/container) vessel. The fleet of four container ships is currently
insufficient to handle the increased cargo.
At the same time, Uzbekistan, as a landlocked state, is
actively planning to place orders for shipbuilding at the shipyards of
Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in order to form its own naval fleet, for which it
